Power Saw Safety Tips for Firefighters from Brotherhood Instructors, LLC

Firefighting Articles from Desert Diamond IndustriesThis video, from our partners at Brotherhood Instructors, LLC, demonstrates two tips for increasing your safety when using power saws. According to Brotherhood Instructors:

One of our biggest pet peeves of common power saw operations is the firefighter that stands upright between cuts while “gunning” the saw. “Gunning the Saw” is a downright dangerous practice that CAN and WILL cause an injury. If you have to “gun” the saw to keep it running, you should have taken the saw out of service at the morning rig check!

The techniques shown here FORCE the blade to stop between cuts. It also is less fatiguing if a long-duration roof operation is required (taxpayer, commercial, top-floor multiple dwelling) since the weight of the saw is rested on the roof and not on our backs.
