More on How to Dress a Diamond Blade

How To Articles from Desert Diamond IndustriesWe’ve had blog posts on why you should dress your diamond blade and how you should dress your diamond blade. The only thing we haven’t posted is video of someone dressing a diamond blade… until now.

This video on how to dress a diamond blade was posted on skenma.jp‘s YouTube channel. As you can see, dressing a diamond blade isn’t hard. All you have to do is run the blade through an abrasive material to grind away the bond and expose the diamond grit. The saw operator in this video ran his blade through a grinding wheel, but you can use any abrasive material, including asphalt or block.

As we’ve said before, though, you don’t have to worry about dressing your diamond blade if you use Ductile Iron Safety Blades and Fire Rescue Safety Blades. Their vacuum-brazed designs give you consistent cutting speed in a variety of materials, and you’ll never need to waste time dressing them, either.

Turning Windows into Exits during RIT by Instructor 5 Productions

Firefighting Articles from Desert Diamond IndustriesFirefighters can get stuck several rooms into a structure during fires and especially during RIT. They may not be able to retrace their steps in these situations, and even if they can, it can cost them precious minutes and air.

When this happens, the best thing you can do may be to turn the nearest window into an exit with a power saw. William “Trey” Nelms III and Instructor 5 Productions demonstrate this valuable technique in this video.

How to Dress and Freshen a Slow-Cutting Diamond Blade

How To Articles from Desert Diamond IndustriesIs your diamond blade cutting slow? Has it stopped cutting altogether? This thread over at the Lapidary / Gemstone Community Forum may be just what you need! It has plenty of tips and tricks on how to dress and freshen diamond blades. It’s a little scattershot (as forum discussions tend to be), but we think that it’ll give you exactly the diamond blade dressing technique that you need.

Or you can just use diamond blades that don’t need dressing or freshening and that keep cutting at the same speed until they’re worn out, like the Ductile Iron Safety Blade and Fire Rescue Safety Blade. Just throwing that out there.
