How Trench Safety Can Damage Flexible Plastic Pipe, by Ontario Concrete Pipe Association

Safety Articles from Desert Diamond IndustriesWe’d like to follow up yesterday’s post on trench safety with an essay by Paul Imm, Technical Resources Engineer at the Ontario Concrete Pipe Association, on how trench boxes can affect fleixble plastic pipe.

According to Imm, trench boxes can disturb the embedment around flexible plastic pipe, from which much of the pipe’s structural strength comes. Therefore, damaging or disturbing the embedment could lead to pipe failure and costly repairs. This essay has some suggestions on how to keep your trench workers safe and avoid pipe damage.
