Highlights from the Tri-State Seminar On-The River

29th Annual Tri-State Seminar On The RiverThe Tri-State Seminar On-The-River is still going over at the South Point Casino as I write this, but it’s over for exhibitors like us. We had a great time the last two days, met a lot of great people, and took a lot of… well, let’s just say our photos from the conference are barely ready for prime-time and leave it at that.

Here’s some of the best.

Our booth girl Lexi Young, one of the most popular people in our booth! She’s shown here at the second day of the conference, holding up the Husqvarna K970 Gas Ring Saw (without blade).

The first day of the conference, salesman Glen Hellebrand took several conference goers out behind the South Point Convention Center for a live demonstration of the Ductile Iron Ring Saw Safety Blade.

What’s the point of having a booth girl if your customers can’t get their photos taken with her?

29th Annual Tri-State Seminar On The RiverWant in on a little secret?

We didn’t think that we’d meet so many people at the Tri-State Seminar On-The-River yesterday. Don’t get us wrong; we loved meeting each and every one of you there. We just didn’t expect to meet all of you at once (or at least that’s how it seemed at times).

We’ll plunge back in for the final day of exhibits at 2:30 p.m. PDT today, and we’ll post our convention photos here once the exhibit hall closes for good at 6:30 p.m. PDT. Stop back here for more!

You can sample some of yesterday’s madness here.

3:19 p.m.: Our booth girl Lexi Young somehow survived being cooped up in a 10′ x 10′ booth with us for two days, and with her sanity intact, no less. She’s a real trouper! Here she is showing off the Husqvarna K970 Gas Ring Saw (without blade).

4:04 p.m.: The Tri-State Seminar On-The-River wasn’t nearly as crowded today, but we still managed to fill up our booth plenty of times.

San Diego Public Utilities Department Water Branch on the Ductile Iron Safety Blade

Water Articles on Desert Diamond Industries' Blog

Kenny Stanley, Water Systems Technician 4 for the  City of San Diego Public Utilities Department’s water branch, doesn’t know which diamond blade his branch used before switching to Ductile Iron Safety Blades, just that it was some “cheesy blade” from Korea. He does remember the cutting segments breaking off, though. None of his guys got hurt, but it was still aggravating.

“The guys would come in (and say) my blade’s dull!” said Stanley. “Yeah, if you’re missing pieces…”

San Diego received a trial blade from Desert Diamond Industries about two years ago, and now uses the Safety Blade to cut cast iron, PVC, ductile iron, and concrete. Stanley said it lasts longer, and added that its solid steel design resists breakage, unlike the welded Korean blades that they used before.

San Bernardino Municipal Water Department on the Ductile Iron Safety Blade

Water Articles on Desert Diamond Industries' BlogThe San Bernardino Municipal Water Department has used the Ductile Iron Safety Blade since March of 2011 to cut steel pipe, replacing the abrasive and steel blades that they used before then. Here’s what Raul Serrato, the department’s Water Utility Supervisor, has to say about it:

“We had a contractor put them on our saws to cut some pipe, some steel pipe, and he was really impressed how it cut because it doesn’t have a lot of sparks and a lot of metal shooting out all over the place, and he was surprised how clean-cutting it was.”
